Guardians, not gatekeepers: how social recovery actually works

A seed phrase is a single string of words that, if lost, ends your access forever, and if leaked, ends it just as fast for someone else. Doma doesn't use one. Here's what replaces it.

You sign in with a passkey held in your device's secure hardware — the same technology that already protects your fingerprint or face ID. Nothing about your key material ever touches a server, an email, or a piece of paper you have to hide.

What happens if you lose every device

This is the scenario seed phrases exist for, and it's the one guardians handle better. You choose people you trust — a partner, a friend, a hardware key you keep separately — as guardians. If you lose access, a majority of them can restore it together.

Why no single guardian can move funds

A guardian can help restore your access to your own account. A guardian cannot sign a transaction, approve a spend, or move a single token — that authority never leaves your device in the first place. Guardianship is a recovery path, not a second set of keys to your funds.
